Civil Servants to Get Early Annual Increment effective from 1 July 2013.

PUTRAJAYA: Good news to all civil servants! 
Civil servants will receive this year’s annual increment, between RM80 and RM320  much earlier effective from 1 July 2013. This is equivalent to a bonus of six months’ increment, between RM480 and RM 1920 depending on one’s own scale.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who made the announcement, said this would benefit every civil servant and it involve an expenditure of RM1.5 billion,” he said to the crowd at the “Transforming the Civil Service, Realising Vision 2020” gathering here. Also present are Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Chief Secretary of State Datuk Seri Dr Ali Hamsa and Cabinet Ministers.

The prime minister also said that effective from 1 Jan 2013, three additional annual increments would be provided after the maximum salary on the salary scale. Some 182,000 plus civil servants will be benefited.

This  initiatives are part of the New Remuneration System (SSB Baharu), which would now be known as the Transformative Remuneration System, SST. (Sistem Saraan Transformatif, STI)

Najib said that in the event when there was no salary adjustment or  salary review, the government agreed to give a special salary movement of 3% to those on the maximum salary, provided they met the conditions of the stipulated annual salary movement and performance. This is to ensure high productivity level always being achieved.

The prime minister also had good news for  50,000 plus contract officers whose service would end on 31 December this year. He said their services would be extended by another year pending an overall study.
